      Tammy Patterson, a reporter for the Eagle Mountain Examiner, decides to do a six-part series on the local search-and-rescue team as they celebrate their 25th anniversary. The first article is about a 10-year-old girl named Valerie who disappeared 15 years ago and was never heard from again. Her twin brother, Vince Shepherd, happens to be a part of the SAR group that Tammy is researching, and the two quickly form a connection. Questions arise when they both begin receiving mysterious disturbing messages claiming to be from Valerie and stating her family is to blame for her disappearance. Tammy and Vince must work together to solve the mystery while staying alive. VERDICT Through many twists and turns, Myers (Mile High Mystery) skillfully writes a fast-paced, suspenseful story that will keep readers guessing until the end.--Shondra Brown
