While at an underground boxing match, Brooke encounters Remington Tate. He is instantly smitten with her and hires her as a sports therapist to keep his perfectly sculpted body in working order. The sexual tension mounts and will soon be tested to the limits. Is it just lust, or is it real love? (LJ 8/13)

Dragged to an underground boxing match by her BFF, reserved sports rehab specialist Brooke Dumas is shocked when superstar fighter Remington Tate picks her out of a crowd and offers her a job--as a rehab specialist! The attraction between them sizzles from the start, but Remy has a dark side, and it keeps him at bay, unwilling to claim Brooke until she knows (and accepts) who he really is. The first-person, present-tense narrative (common in YA and chick lit romances) keeps readers in the moment, while the gritty, violent boxing environment adds another unique element to this romance that delivers in unexpected ways. VERDICT Edgy, angsty, and saturated with palpable tension and incendiary sex, this tale packs an emotional wallop and is an intriguing example of the hot "new adult" romances currently hitting the shelves. (Real was released digitally last April, hitting Amazon's Top 10 list, and is the first of a five-book series subsequently picked up by Gallery.)
