Leighton’s second Wild Ones contemporary (after The Wild Ones) sizzles with passion and romance. Preacher’s daughter Laney Holt is a paralegal working on itemizing the estate belonging to the Theopolis family. This leads her to bad boy Jake Theopolis, the gorgeous man she once kissed at a local South Carolina fair. When Laney’s father pushes her to get back together with her smarmy ex-fiancé, she defiantly leaves her parents’ home and moves in with Jake. Jake slowly wears down Laney’s defenses, knowing that the idyllic setting of his family’s peach farm is the perfect venue for seduction. But the no-strings-attached sex soon involves deeper emotions, and Jake begins to wish that he were capable of offering Laney a committed relationship. Leighton’s intensely sensuous novel alternates between Laney and Jake’s first-person perspectives, creating a heart-wrenching emotional story. Fans and newcomers will eagerly await the next book in the series.
