      Cassandra Campbell strikes the right balance between sassy attitude, confidence, and vulnerability for the character of Menolly D'Artigo. Menolly, a vampire, has resigned from the Otherworld Intelligence Agency but is still working to keep the Otherworld invaders at bay. As Menolly searches for a vampire serial killer who is preying on prostitutes in Seattle, Campbell creates an atmosphere of fear and suspense. Menolly is a vampire of strong feelings and passions, and Campbell presents the story's vivid sex scenes with no reservation. She also brings out the strong bonds between the D'Artigo sisters and their friends that are the signature of the series.
