        These well-designed guides begin with an overview welcome to each area and a brief tour through its top experiences, all designed to get readers excited and started on their must-do lists. To back up that work, information on how to plan the trip, including when to go and driving tips, is also provided, topped off by a full suggested itinerary and recommendations focused on experiences not to miss. The main part of the guide is devoted to the area of coverage and includes advice on planning one's time, getting around, and going to sites, events, shops, sporting events, and more, along with suggestions on dining and accommodations. Details are thorough and smartly organized, as are the suggested short guides to making the most of it all. There are fewer road-trip details than one might expect and more site-by-site coverage, but that information is excellent and will please travelers going to one of the sites or stringing a series of locales together. VERDICT Moon sets a high standard for travel series, and these books are no exception. Buy the series in whole to help create a rich collection.
