Choose Joy
Relieve Burnout, Focus on Your Happiness, and Infuse More Joy into Your EverydayLife
Maybe you’re feeling exhausted, both mentally and physically, from the last few years and all of the uncertainty and change that came with them. Maybe you’re feeling overwhelmed and struggling to meet the constant demands on your time. Maybe you’re finding it difficult to connect with the things that once added joy and meaning to your life. Or maybe you can’t even remember what those things were. If you relate to one (or more!) of those statements, certified positive psychology practitioner Sophie Cliff is here to help.
Choose Joy's research, insights, and exercises will help you:
• Reduce stress and change how you react to it (because busy schedules will never go away)
• Uncover what really matters to you, not what your family or society tells you should matter
• Identify your core values and develop a new approach to achieving your goals
• Boost your self-confidence and realize that you're worthy of all the joy you've been dreaming about
Research tells us that joy has a whole host of health benefits and now using the tools in this book, you can start taking the necessary daily steps toward building a life that lights you up instead of drags you down.
“Choose Joy is an empathetic and empowering resource for anyone struggling with burnout and self-limiting beliefs. The practical advice Sophie offers is something that we can all benefit from." - Mary Jelkovsky, bestselling author of The Gift of Self-Love

Cliff's can-do guide to putting joy first is a keeper. A former corporate player, she started the Joyful Coach, dedicated to helping others find joy. In her debut book she explores the effects of burnout, how to create change, how to define and then hold to one's values, and, most critically, how to find and prioritize joy. She describes joy as something to cultivate, practice, and set as an attitude. Joy can feel like contentment, satisfaction, delight, peace, a mix of these, or something more personal; it leads, she writes, to a more satisfying and healthy life. The book begins by guiding readers through an inventory of where they are now, looking at symptoms of burnout. Part two explores how to find what makes one feel joy. The conclusion focuses on cultivating joy. The book includes worksheets, but these exercises are easy to do in a journal instead. VERDICT Cliff's embracing book combines a supporting tone with practical steps that readers looking for more joy, or even just a framework to feel better, can embrace.--Neal Wyatt
