From the subversive mind behind The Hollows comes a new, page turning horror thriller, perfect for fans of The Only Good Indian by Stephen Graham Jones.
Jenna's life has always been a fight. From the traumatic and mysterious loss of her mother on a dark woodland road when she was fifteen, to the abusive and controlling boyfriend she's recently escaped, she has learned that trust hurts you in the end.
Now Jenna's found what she hopes is happiness with her new girlfriend, Holly. But the world is full of darkness - some of it ancient, some of it closer to home... Evil, and those who serve it, will not let Jenna go.
The Ravening is a gripping, claustrophobic horror novel that sets a timeless nightmare against one woman and her belief in herself, and the possibility that somewhere, somehow, there is love in the world.

When Jenna is kidnapped after making an appointment to terminate a pregnancy, she thinks at first that she's been taken by pro-life extremists. She realizes that she's being held at her ex's Scottish estate, and she surmises that James has his own twisted reasons for wanting her baby--but she has no idea just how dangerous the situation really is. Before long, Jenna finds herself being tracked by a human hunter, battling an ancient monster in an ash-covered netherworld, going up against a brilliant scientist in this one, and trying to figure out how it all connects to her mother's disappearance when Jenna was a teen and hoping against hope that she'll get back to her new but promising girlfriend, Holly. Meanwhile, Holly is doing her best to find Jenna and reconcile the depravities she encounters with the world she knows. Church corrals multiple seemingly unconnected plot threads, weaving them into a pulse-pounding tale of evil and greed in which love ultimately triumphs. Recommend to fans of Christopher Buehlman's Between Two Fires (2012), Victor LaValle's The Devil in Silver (2012), or Hailey Piper's Queen of Teeth (2021).
